Suna Kan 2nd International Violin Competition
17-21 OCTOBER 2022
THE COMPETITION
The 2nd International Violin Competition organised by the Ankara State Conservatory Association (ADK-DER) in honour of Suna Kan will take place between 17-21 October 2022 this year.
In the early years of the Republic of Turkey founded by great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a special law was prepared for students demonstrating exceptional talent in fine arts. Suna Kan and İdil Biret received scholarships for education abroad with the best artists of the period within the scope of this law. After returning to Turkey, Suna Kan represented our country numerous times as one of the first generation of soloists from our young Turkish Republic.

The Suna Kan Competition pays tribute to the life and career of Suna Kan, one of Turkey’s greatest cultural ambassadors, and hopes to be a source of inspiration for the next generation of violinists. The Competition’s dates are based around 21 October 2022, the birthday of Suna Kan.
The Ankara State Conservatory Association (ADK-DER) is proud to continue its activities to commemorate honoured musicians raised by our country.
